El Paso ISD Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps
The United States Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) came into being with the passage of the National Defense Act of 1916. JROTC was established in the El Paso Independent School District as early as 1880. El Paso HS JROTC is the oldest JROTC program in Texas. Once looked upon primarily as a source of enlisted recruits and officer candidates. The JROTC program is the most prominent leadership citizenship program in the nation. The JROTC mission is to motivate young people to be better citizens. JROTC prepares high school students for responsible leadership roles while making them aware of their rights, responsibilities, and privileges as American citizens. Although college and employment information may be discussed, JROTC is not a military recruiting program, nor is a military obligation incurred by participating in our program. This course prepares you for responsible leadership roles while making you aware of your rights, responsibilities, and privileges as an American citizen.
