• A message from our Principal,

    Dear Powell Parents and Students,

We have set high academic goals as a campus and are working hard to help all students achieve success. We are also very focused on the social-emotional learning (SEL) of our students and this year all of our teachers are also teaching lessons from a District approved SEL Curriculum.

Thank you also to all of our parents who have attended school meetings such as Coffee with the Principal, Student-Led Conferences, and Dual Language Parent Meetings. These meetings will continue throughout the school year and afford our parents many opportunities to become actively engaged with our students, teachers, and staff.

I would like all of you to know that it is also our goal to keep our students safe each day. For this reason we have worked very hard with District to install a front door safety system that is now functioning and Facilities is also installing chain link fencing on both sides of the campus. This fencing will include gates that will remain locked during instructional hours. The gate in front of the bicycle racks will be open before and after school during student dismissal.

As parents you play a critical role in the safety of our students when they are at school. By working cooperatively with our staff together we can ensure our students are safe each morning when they arrive and at the end of the day when they are dismissed. Please comply with all campus policies when visiting the campus and make sure that you are not leaving your vehicle unattended in the Pick-Up/Drop Off Zone in front of the school at any time. Campus policies are written in detail in the Student-Parent Handbook that can be found under the Parents Tab of the Powell website. If you have any questions about any of our policies, please contact me at (915) 230-5375 or email me at waveille@episd.org.

Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to seeing all of you throughout the year for all campus events.

    Mr. Veilleux

    Powell Principal
