Our School

  • Students attend class in three sessions: morning from 8 am - 12 pm, afternoon from 12:30 - 3 pm, evenings from 6 - 9 pm Tuesday through Thursday. Courses are offered in English as Second Language (3 levels), High School Equivalency (formerly GED also offered in Spanish), Integrated Education and Training (vocational courses), and distance learning courses. For many of our entry level students, this is their first opportunity for an education.

The El Paso Independent School District for Adult Education, in partnership with public and private agencies, provides opportunities for educationally disadvantage adults which will enhance their professional, educational, and personal skills to achieve self-sufficiency to compete in the 21st Century.

San Jacinto Adult Learning Center was built in 1905, designed by Edward Kneezell and is the oldest school building in El Paso still in use. When this school was built it was literally at the edge of the city on land sold by Joseph Magoffin to the City School Board. The school closed down as an elementary school in 1976 housing those whom lived east of downtown. The red brick building with its wooden floors, high ceilings and steam heaters retains an excellent example of the architecture of its era. The school has thirteen available classrooms and three computer labs, its offices are located on the middle floor. The lower floor, basement, houses 4 classrooms, one computer lab, warehouse, and student lunchroom without a kitchen.
