    The El Paso ISD Convocation unites our 8,000 employees to celebrate our District, hear the vision of Superintendent Diana Sayavedra and prepare for the 2022-23 school year. Keynote speaker Henry Cervantes will present his message “Teaching and Learning Towards Healing, Hope and Social Change with Students.” Festivities begin with the parade of schools featuring high school bands, mascots and cheerleaders.

  • Featuring Speaker Henry Cervantes

    Henry Cervantes serves as Director of The Peace Exchange program of Holy Family Ministries, an organization that engages youth in leadership training and international travel to study global nonviolent movements. Cervantes has taught nonviolence at Cook County Jail in Chicago as part of the Sheriff's Anti-Violence Effort (SAVE) program and is also a professor for North Park University's School of Restorative Arts teaching conflict transformation at Stateville Correctional Center, a maximum-security prison. Cervantes is a 2022 Illinois Road Scholar and graduate of the 2021 Anti-Defamation League's Glass Leadership Institute. For his work for peace and social justice, Cervantes is one 40 Human Rights Defenders featured in the Take a Stand Center at the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center.
