(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT – June 11, 2024) — On Tuesday, June 11 Bowie High School held a heartfelt ceremony at the Don Haskins Center to honor its 198 graduates.  

The event included a special tribute to Daniel Esparza, a senior band member who tragically passed away in the fall of 2023 after suffering a medical emergency during a high school football game. Esparza’s parents accepted his diploma on his behalf, amidst a moving moment of remembrance. 

Attendees also heard inspiring speeches from valedictorian Dalila Soto and salutatorian Abraham Rivera during the commencement, reflecting on their high school journey and looking forward to the future. 

Other notable graduates are Fernando Villa, named All-Boy, and Jessica Herrera, who was named All-Girl. In addition, Bowie’s graduates in the top two percent will attend UTEP and major in the engineering program. The school also earned the most scholarships from UTEP.
