CCTA kicks off 2023 El Paso ISD Graduation Season
(EL PASO HIGH SCHOOL — June 9, 2023) — El Paso ISD kicked off its graduation season this afternoon with the College, Career and Technology Academy’s class of 2023 at the majestic El Paso High theater.
The nontraditional high school academy celebrated the accomplishments of its 148 graduates – many of whom overcame personal obstacles and great hardships to earn their diploma.
This year’s graduates are led by valedictorian Victor Armendariz, who will be attending the University of Texas at El Paso this fall, and salutatorian Joselyne Zapien, who will attend El Paso Community College. Senior Johnathan Wilson received an EPISD Education Foundation Scholarship.
Armendariz told the crowd gathered in El Paso High’s historic auditorium that the fact he and his fellow students were there is a testament to their willingness to work hard. During his remarks, Armendariz lauded the students for never wavering in the face of adversity.
“The fact that you are here is an indication of your resilience,” Armendariz said. “I want to challenge all of you to do what you can to make this world a better one.”
