Curbside iPad distribution starts in EPISD Thursday
EPISD will begin distributing iPads to families who do not have a computer or device in anticipation of the launch of EPISD@HOME, the District’s distance-learning program during the COVID-19 (coronavirus) related campus closures. One iPad will be given to any family with students in grades kinder through fifth who do not have either a home computer, laptop or tablet at home. Students must be present at the time of distribution and parents must present the child’s student identification number.

EPISD approves end-of-year stipend for employees
Qualified employees in EPISD will receive an end-of-year stipend from the District in June. Employees could receive either $500 or $250 depending on their employment status.

EPISD declares emergency preparedness week following Spring Break
Out of an abundance of caution, the El Paso Independent School District will add a week of emergency preparedness to the existing spring break. The District will be closed March 16-20 for spring break and March 23-27 for emergency planning. Classes and operations will resume on Monday, March 30.

Young Women's Academy student wins EPISD Spanish Spelling Bee
Marium Zahara from the Young Women's STEAM Research & Preparatory Academy won this year's edition of the EPISD Spanish Spelling Bee. She and second-place winner, Mitzi Bond Elementary's Raphaella Castro Correa, qualified to represent the city at the national Spanish spelling bee in Denver.

Franklin twirling team wins big
Franklin High School's Feature Twirlers earned five individual awards at the National Baton Twirling Association's 2020 Southwest Regional Championship in Canyon, Texas, last week. The team has qualified for state competition and one member will compete at nationals.
