220 Irvin Rockets receive diplomas on Day 3 of El Paso ISD graduations
(IRVIN HIGH SCHOOL – June 6, 2022) – The Irvin High Rocket’s Class of 2022 closed out the third day of El Paso ISD graduation ceremonies Monday at the Don Haskins Center.
The 220-member class, which earned more than $2.4 million in scholarships, is led by valedictorian Evelyn De La Torre and salutatorian Daisy Hinojosa.
De La Torre also held the titles of All-Irvin Girl and Student Body president during her senior year. She offered her classmates some sage advice during her remarks.
“We have been given every resource and opportunity from our loved ones and teachers to create our paths in the real world. Where to next is up to us,” De La Torre said. “It may sound intimidating because we're used to someone telling us what to do. We might not always be sure if we're making the right decision, but it’s okay to make mistakes and start over. What we can't do is give up because our potential is incredible.”
Hinojosa’s remarks touched on the Bond modernization paralleling it to class’ transformation.
“The Class of 2022 experienced our first day of school twice by walking the historic halls of the old Irvin and now the new Irvin,” she said. “Similar to the remodeling on campus, we too changed and grew with the help and guidance of our amazing teachers, and we experienced memories that will last a lifetime.”
