EPISD Procurement Services receives state honors
(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT -- Jan. 30, 2020) — The EPISD Procurement and School Resources Department received the Texas Association of School Business Officials (TASBO) Award of Merit and a Recognized Status for its commitment to professional standards in procuring goods and services.
This is the fourth consecutive year that the department has received these distinctions. TASBO will be recognizing Ron Gatlin, executive director of procurement and members of his staff, at the annual conference March 5 in Houston.
The Award of Merit for Purchasing Operations recognizes school districts’ achievement in implementing best practices in the area of purchasing. The honorees demonstrate professional purchasing operations and share their best practices in policies and procedures with colleagues throughout the state. The distinctions are based on a review of various procedures and practices ranging from organization, policies, contract operations, staff training and certification to technology use, communication and warehouse operations.
“This award represents the Procurement and School Resources Department’s continued commitment to implementing best practices that enable us to provide the most valuable resources to our students while demonstrating to our community and taxpayers that we are ensuring that the district is in compliance with purchasing laws and regulations,” Gatlin said. “It is with great pride to again bring this award to the District.”
