EPISD Cares continues with fall drive to help families impacted by pandemic
(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT Aug. 11, 2020) — EPISD continues its EPISD Cares Fund to continue helping feed struggling families affected by COVID-19 pandemic.
Contributions to EPISD Cares go to El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank and will be matched by CommUNITY en Acción (CEA), which recently announced a $100,000 donation to the food bank.
You can support the EPISD Cares fund by making a monitary donation or purchasing an EPISD Proud or EPISD Cares T-shirt or cap through Proper Printshop. T-shirts, which have been updated for the fall, and caps are $20 each with $10 going to the fund. A gift of just $20 equals 140 meals for those most in need during this unprecedented time.
“This incredible partnership couldn’t come at a better time,” said Susan Goodell, Chief Executive Officer for El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank. "As area families prepare to go back to school, the combined efforts from the EPISD Cares Campaign and the CommUNITY en Acción Donation Drive will provide children and families with the nutritious meals they need to keep young minds active. We are grateful for the support of this campaign, which will give children and families one less thing to worry about this school year."
The CEA match is part of a $600,000 fundraising challenge to benefit EPFH. The first 150 donors who contribute at least $25 also will receive an EPFH Hunger Warrior T-shirt.
This spring, the EPISD Cares campaign raised nearly $100,000 for the El Pasoans Fighting Hunger, which included a dollar for dollar match through a partnership of the Paul L. Foster Family Foundation, the Woody & Gayle Hunt Family Foundation and the MountainStar Sports Group Foundation. The EPISD Cares Fund is managed by the Paso del Norte Community Foundation.
