EPISD names principals for Henderson, Ross
(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT -- Dec, 3, 2021) — EPISD today announced the appointment of two long-time District educators as the new principals for Henderson and Ross middle schools.
Daniel Montoya is the new principal at Henderson Middle School effective Monday, Dec. 6. He currently serves as the interim principal at the school. Wanda Johnson is the new principal at Ross Middle School effective Monday, Dec. 13. She is currently the principal at Milam Elementary.
“Henderson and Ross are in good hands under the leadership of Mr. Montoya and Ms. Johnson, two dedicated educators who have a long history of serving as advocates for children,” said Interim Superintendent Vince Sheffield. “As these two new campuses begin the transition into Bond-related consolidation, these two leaders will make sure the process is as smooth as possible.”
Prior to being named interim principal at Henderson, Montoya served as dean of operations at the school. He also has served as assistant principal at Bassett Middle School and an Active Learning Leader at Armendariz Middle School, where he also was a science teacher and a football and basketball coach. A U.S. Air Force veteran, Montoya is a graduate of Park University with a bachelor’s degree in computer science and the University of Texas at El Paso with a master’s in education.
Johnson has served as principal at Milam since 2017. Previously she was the principal at Travis Elementary and assistant principal at the former Crosby Elementary. She also served as a math coach at the former Dowell Elementary and taught at Logan Elementary. Johnson is a graduate of the University of Texas at El Paso and is an EPISD Master Principal.
