A Message from Diana Sayavedra

Dear El Paso ISD,

As we get closer to the end of the 2023-2024 school year, I take great pride in reflecting on our accomplishments and eagerly look forward to the promising future ahead.

We are almost complete with Phase I of our Destination District Redesign, and I am profoundly grateful for your involvement in shaping the future of El Paso ISD. The redesign involves a thoughtful evaluation of programs, allocation of resources and a facilities assessment to ensure student and community needs are met.  This includes sunsetting campuses, so that every dollar spent, every program offered, and every facility utilized is dedicated to the goal of inspiring and empowering every child to thrive.

The conversation will continue at the beginning of the next school year as we enter Phase II. During this phase, we will share updated criteria based on feedback received from Phase I and present our preliminary analysis. Additionally, we will seek further feedback on programming to ensure it meets the needs and expectations of our community. Your continued engagement is crucial as we pursue excellence together. Phase II dates will be provided soon.

El Paso ISD invites parents to attend a series of upcoming meetings about El Paso ISD's Dual Language Bilingual Education. Beginning on May 22, these meetings will explain the program enhancements to support all students, details on planned program refinements, and the district's commitment to building upon its foundational dual language success. As we continue our journey toward becoming the destination district, we recently celebrated a significant milestone with the completion of the 2016 bond. Our students and staff celebrated the completion of the Coronado High School campus’ $68.3 million construction improvement project. The newly renovated Coronado campus features modernized classrooms, new parking facilities, a state-of-the-art field house, and numerous other improvements.

Hawkins Elementary School's "I Heart Reading" event, now in its tenth year, continues to be a cornerstone of fostering a love for reading among our students. Through this initiative, students immerse themselves in books and share their passion through creative presentations, nurturing a lifelong love of learning.

Excellence shines brightly as three El Paso ISD student-athletes—Victoria Barragan, Diego Neri, and Francisco Reyes—recently signed their college commitment letters during a special event at Jefferson High School. Their dedication to both academics and athletics exemplifies the spirit of excellence we strive to instill in all our students.

As graduation approaches in just a few weeks, our seniors are eagerly anticipating their commencement ceremonies—a moment of celebration for all. Find the complete schedule here

Additionally, registration for the upcoming school year is now open. Utilize our school finder tool to discover the perfect educational fit for you or your child.

Thank you for your unwavering support and dedication to the success of El Paso ISD. Together, we are shaping a brighter future for our students and community.

It Starts With Us.

Sincerely,

Diana Sayavedra
