Hello and WELCOME BACK!! I hope that everyone has had a relaxing summer vacation. My name is Alexandra Quiroz, and I am thrilled to be the new full-time counselor at Putnam Elementary!!! This is going to be a fun year filled with learning, growing, and lots of new adventures. I cannot wait to get to know you, your family, and most importantly your child!

First, I wanted to take a moment to tell you a few things about myself. I was born and raised here in El Paso, Tx. I majored in Interdisciplinary Studies at the University of Texas in El Paso (UTEP). Then I continued my education and earned my Master’s in Guidance and Counseling. I have taught grades Pre-k through 5th grade as a Special Education teacher for 9 years.

This will be my first year as a School Counselor, and I am so thrilled to have the opportunity to pursue my passion in elementary school counseling. I am so excited to get this year started. I believe that this school year will be full of fun and successful experiences for all students. I am eagerly awaiting to support the psychological, academic, and social development of students by teaching them and guiding them through the 5 competencies of Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) during guidance lessons, responsive services, individual planning, and short- term group and individual counseling based of the needs of the students.

I look forward to working with and collaborating with teachers, administration, parents, and the community to create a safe responsive support system for all students. I believe as a team we can ensure that all students have access to a variety of experiences to develop their academic, career, emotional, personal, and social goals.
