• Welcome!

    Greeting Dowell Families,

For 5 years now, I have had the honor of serving as Dowell Elementary's Principal. I have been able to collaborate alongside a group of dedicated and goal-oriented teachers and staff, an extraordinary community, and of course, the best students. During this time, we have been able to create the best possible learning environments to motivate and encourage our students to reach beyond the stars and let them know that the path to college is being paved each and every day.

A little about me, I was born and raised here in El Paso, Texas. I attended Houston Elementary, Crockett Intermediate, and Austin High School.  I also attended the University of Texas at El Paso. I received my Bachelor's in Interdisciplinary Studies, with a concentration in Bilingual Education and my Master's in Educational Administration. I have two beautiful daughters who day in and day out make me be the best person I can be.

I have been an educator since 2000. I have taught many students at the primary level both here in El Paso, Texas as well as in Palm Springs, California. I have also had the opportunity to serve as an Instructional Coach and Assistant Principal.

I cannot imagine doing something else besides what I do now. I teach and learn something new every day.  My students motivate me and keep me smiling. I pride myself in knowing I have a hand in shaping the future of many children. It is my responsibility to ensure that we provide vast educationally sound experiences to promote their growth not only academically, but socially and emotionally as well. I firmly believe my role is to serve as an advocate for students as well as to help to create positive and nurturing environments with one goal in mind: student success.

I pride myself in being your principal. I want Dowell to shine as the best elementary school in the northeast. Working together we can definitely make that happen.

    Ms. Ontiveros
