  • Five EPISD seniors named El Paso's only 2021-22 National Merit Scholarship semifinalists

    Coronado High School seniors Minseo Kim, Samuel Kligman, Christina Li, Christian Lomarquez and Luke Miller today were announced as El Paso's only semifinalists for the prestigious National Merit Scholarship program. The program in the spring will announce finalists and scholarship winners. Good luck!

  • Alice in Wonderland inspired exhibit to help open new EPISD Fine Arts Gallery

    The new EPISD Fine Arts Gallery is ready to welcome guests and to help us open this space we have secured artwork from kinder through12th grade students from throughout the District. The exhibit, titled "Miniature Adventures in Wonderland" is inspired by Alice in Wonderland.

  • Texas Tech program will help Silva students become RNs

    The first cohort of the BSN Pipeline program at Silva visited the Texas Tech University Health Science Center Hunt School of Nursing last week to get a glimpse of what is to come for them. The program is a partnership with Texas Tech that will allow students to earn their nursing degree just 16 months after high-school graduation.

  • UTEP, EPISD teacher residency partnership expanded to five campuses

    The Miner Teacher Residency Program that began in EPISD three years ago at Mesita Elementary and Austin High has been expanded to three new campuses this year: Newman Elementary, Tom Lea Elementary and Terrace Hill Middle/Collins Elementary. The partnership places education majors with experienced teacher for the entire school year.

  • 'Letters to Strangers' helps Silva students fight off mental health stigma

    Teens at Silva Health Magnet started the Letters to Strangers El Paso Chapter during the pandemic to help spread awareness and coping mechanisms among teens dealing with mental health issues. The program, which consists of writing letters and spreading information and awareness, hopes to end the stigma surrounding mental health.

  • Mena receives Yale education award

    hawn Mena, the principal at Franklin High School and EPISD’s Interim Assistant Superintendent of High Schools, has been recognized by the Yale Office of Undergraduate Admissions as the recipient of the 2021 Yale Educator Award. The Yale Educator Recognition Program recognizes outstanding individuals from around the world who support and inspire the students to perform at high levels to achieve excellence.

  • El Paso High sophomore makes Mexican women's national ice hockey team

    El Paso High's Camryn Heon Diaz de Leon's skills as a hockey player have landed her a spot on the national Mexican women's hockey team that will be playing in Poland next month for a historic berth to compete in the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.

  • New YWA Steam Drum Line serves beats, pride

    A group of 30 Young Women's STEAM students gathers every week during lunch to form the school's first-ever drum line. The YWA Drum Line is right now practicing on tables or a couple of donated drums and is looking for donations to secure more equipment.

    El Paso High senior Simran Haribhai launched Youth for the World as a digital platform where young people can create content to raise awareness about global issues. Since its launch, she and her contributors have spoken to international leaders, global influencers and other activists making a difference in the world for blog posts and podcasts.

  • Federal Impact Aid Survey can help EPISD secure funds

    EPISD families this week will receive a link to the 2021 Federal Impact Aid Survey that could help the District secure funding to offset tax exemption revenue of federal property. Parents are asked to fill out the survey and help the District realize funding to secure student programming.
