A Message from Diana Sayavedra

Dear El Paso ISD,

The district just completed high school commencement ceremonies and is now anticipating welcoming a new group of young learners to our early childhood programs. As our secondary students begin their lives beyond El Paso ISD, our prekindergarten pupils start a wonderful and rewarding journey in the public education system.

Education provides opportunities for children to become whatever they dream of being, such as teachers, doctors, engineers, lawyers and scientists, to name a few careers within the reach of our charges. Borrowing from the words of Horace Mann, schools indeed serve as the “great equalizers” in our society. So next time you attend a high school graduation or see the excited faces of children in the early grades, pause and think about the incredible impact education has on shaping the future of our society.

I am proud to announce that Educational Results Partnership (ERP) has released the annual "Honor Roll" list of top-performing schools in Texas, which recognizes top public schools, school districts and charter schools that have outperformed their peers in closing achievement gaps, particularly among higher-poverty and historically disadvantaged student populations.  Congratulations to the following campuses for their academic excellence in inspiring and empowering our students to thrive:

1. Silva Health Magnet

2. Transmountain Early College High School

3. Hornedo Middle School

4. Hawkins Elementary School

5. Lamar Elementary

6. Western Hills Elementary

7. Cielo Vista Elementary

8. Polk Elementary

9. Dr. Green Elementary

Congratulations to the El Paso High School Mock Trial team for winning the Regional competition, which qualified them to compete at the Texas High School Mock Trial Competition. At the state competition, the team placed third out of twenty-four teams. This is the highest a team from El Paso has placed at State since 2011. We are incredibly proud of our students for their hard work, dedication, and outstanding performance.

Additionally, we are thrilled to announce that Irvin High School principal, Robert Stives, has been inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame for bowling. He also received a proclamation from the city in recognition of his achievements. Principal Stives exemplifies how pursuing one's passions can lead to remarkable accomplishments and serves as an inspiring role model for our community.

Congratulations to all our students for their remarkable achievements!

As we close this chapter of the academic year, I’d like to thank our teachers, staff, and parents for their support and trust in El Paso ISD. I hope you can take some time to relax, rejuvenate, and enjoy the well-deserved break. We look forward to welcoming you back refreshed and ready for another year of learning and growth. Have a wonderful summer!

It Starts With Us.

Sincerely,
