May 2024 Street Resurfacing Drop-Offs
Dear Tiger community,
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to inform you about an upcoming road construction project that will affect traffic in the vicinity of El Paso High School starting Wednesday, May 8.
The construction project, overseen by the Texas Department of Transportation, will primarily impact Schuster Avenue and its surrounding areas. As a result, there will be significant changes to traffic patterns, including lane closures, detours and other adjustments aimed at improving our road infrastructure.
Given the proximity of the construction to our school, it is important for us to be proactive and prepared for the potential challenges it may pose to our daily commute. To assist you in navigating these changes effectively, please note the following information regarding student drop-off and pick-up locations:
• Regular student drop-off/pickup: Students will be dropped off at Schuster Drive and Ochoa Street. They can access the campus by walking down Schuster, Crosby Avenue, or Cliff Drive.
• General education buses: General education buses will drop off and pick up students on Virginia Street. Student drivers and faculty/staff must display their parking passes to access Virginia Street up to the parking lot.
• Special education buses: Special education buses will have access to Schuster and drop off students at the marquee.
• Parents/guardians: Parents with special education students can access Virginia Street, turn east on Schuster, and drop off/pick up students. Parents/guardians visiting the school office can park in the parking lot by informing the flagman of their school-related business.
We understand that road construction can be disruptive and lead to delays. However, the safety of our students is paramount, especially those who traverse Schuster Avenue daily to reach the campus. Therefore, we kindly ask for your patience, cooperation, and vigilance during this period.
The construction project is estimated to last approximately two weeks. Throughout this time, our school administration will closely monitor the situation and provide updates as needed. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the impact of the construction on school-related matters, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Thank you for your attention to this important matter. Your cooperation and understanding are greatly appreciated as we work together to ensure the safety and well-being of our students.
Sincerely,
Dr. Sandra Rocha
Principal
