Welcome to El Paso High's Military Section:
El Paso High School is dedicated to building relationships with our military families. Our goal is to earn the Purple Star designation for our campus this year. Our team works hard to provide information on the unique challenges faced by military families, such as frequent moves, deployments, and transitions, and equips educators with strategies to support these students academically and emotionally. Our Family/Community/Military liaison goes through training which covers topics such as understanding the military culture, building relationships with military families, identifying and addressing the academic and social-emotional needs of military-connected students, and creating a welcoming and inclusive school environment. Our campus also provides resources and tools to help our team develop policies and practices that support military-connected students. Overall, we work tirelessly to be equipped to meet the needs of military families and provide them with the best possible educational experience.
The TEA’s Purple Star Campus designation is evidence that our schools are among the best in the state in terms doing just that.”
To earn this designation, campuses must have:
- Designation of a campus-based military liaison.
- Creation and maintenance of an easily accessible web page that includes information for military-connected students and their families.
- A campus transition program; and
- Offered at least one of the following initiatives: a resolution showing support for military-connected students and families; participation in Month of the Military Child or Military Family Month; or a partnership with a school liaison officer to encourage and provide opportunities for active duty military members.
