Credit By Exams: TWO OPTIONS
1. CBE with Prior Instruction – Grades 6-12
In accordance with local policy, a student in grades 6–12 may be given credit for an academic subject in which he or she had some prior instruction if the student scores 70% or above on the applicable CBE

2. CBE without Prior Instruction – Grades 6-12
A district shall give a student in grades 6–12 credit for an academic subject in which the student has received no prior instruction if the student scores 80% or above on the applicable CBE
- A student may only take a CBE for a specific high school course before the beginning of the school year in which the student would ordinarily take the course in the district's prescribed course sequence. If the student does not earn CBE credit, they must complete the course
- Policy EHDC Legal states students are only allowed two attempts per CBE for the same subject
CBE AND EOC Assessments
- If a student takes a CBE for a course with a corresponding EOC assessment and scores 80% or higher, the district must enter the examination score on the student's transcript
- The student is not required to take the applicable EOC assessment
- No prior instruction
- CBE must be taken prior to the year of EOC
- Pass with 80%
- Does not take EOC
- Enter Exclusion in TH
- Prior Instruction
- CBE taken at any time
- EOC required
There are FOUR CBE testing windows (only three for seniors). Please see your counselor to schedule an exam.
A student may take a specific examination only once during each window and only twice for a single exam.
