In 2014, El Paso Independent School District and El Paso Community College jointly created Burges Early College High School (BECHS). This unique school is the first of its kind in El Paso. The BECHS program enables scholars to progress from the ninth grade through the first two years of college, earning both their HB5 high school diploma and an Associate of Arts within four years. 

Burges Early College High School:

• is an extension of Burges High School;

• is specifically designed to provide students the opportunity to begin college during the ninth grade;

• offers opportunities to participate in the many athletic, academic, fine arts, and other extracurricular activities found in traditional high school settings.
