• Message from the Principal

    Dear Dr. Torres Community,

It's my great honor to welcome the communities of Bradley and Fannin as we join together to become one family at the new Dr. Joseph Torres Elementary School. Dr. Torres PK-5 provides state-of-the-art and updated facilities for our students and teachers for optimum learning opportunities.

As the first principal of Dr. Torres Elementary, it is a privilege for me to continue serving the students of the El Paso Independent School District. I began my career in EPISD 20 years ago as a substitute teacher before becoming a classroom teacher, instructional coach, assistant principal and principal. I hope to use these experiences to guide our teachers and students to new heights, thriving both academically and social emotionally while also creating new traditions as the Dr. Torres Raptors.

Like many of the students in our school community, I grew up an Army brat and know the challenges and struggles our military students face as they transition in and out of schools. My father served in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Bliss after many moves including stints in Panama, Virginia, Alabama and two tours of duty in Germany.

I received an associates degree from the University of Maryland European Division in Mannheim, Germany before moving to my adopted hometown of El Paso. I am also a proud UTEP Miner - Picks Up – having received both my bachelors and master's degrees from the university. El Paso has been my home ever since.

I look forward to meeting our Dr. Torres families and working together to provide our students with a quality education that is unique to our community.

    Sincerely,

    Kathleen Ese
