CCTE students have strong showing at state competitions

(CENTER FOR CAREER & TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION May 3 ,2021) — Students enrolled in EPISD’s CCTE courses recently competed in regional and state tournaments and represented their schools and the District with honor. Several students qualified for national and international tournaments later this year.

 

Eighth Annual West Texas Sports Medicine State Competition

Rookie Division:

  • Morrison Ludwig, Chapin High, first place
  • Samm Senter, Franklin High, second place
  • Isabel Carreon, Chapin, third place
  • Sebastian Ortiz, Coronado High, fourth place
  • Iris Perez, Chapin, sixth place
  • Christian Lozano, Coronado, eighth- place

Advanced Division

  • Shalom Armijo, El Paso High, second place
  • Mia Hernandez, Irvin High, fifth place.

Ben Snyder is the Health Science & Sports Medicine instructor and sponsor. All students listed above have qualified for the AACI National Sports Medicine Competition in June.

 

HOSA State Competition 

Health Education

  • Emily Leon, Irvin, and Mariana Avena-Leon, Andress High, third place. Both qualify for nationals. 

Emergency Medical Technician

  • Trinity Cost, Coronado, and Eva Marfil, Jefferson High, fourth place.
  • Jesus Rojo, Coronado, and Jovany Favela, Bowie High, fifth place. 

Sports Medicine

  • Shalom Armijo, El Paso High, fourth place
  • Christian Lozano, Coronado, fifth place

  • Zachary Soldi, Franklin, first place. Qualified for nationals.

Electric Motor Control

  • Gerardo Talavera, Bowie, first place. Qualified for nationals.
  • Patrick Farley, Coronado, second place

Chapter Display

  • Leila DiPasquale and Paula Isabel Jauregui, El Paso High, and Zachary Soldi, Franklin, first place. Qualified for nationals. 

Action Skills

  • Emiliano Aguilar, Burges High, second place. 

Electrical Construction Wiring

  • Miguel Rios, Irvin, second place.

3-D Visualization

  • Bryn Shellenback and Chloe Media-Fierro, Coronado, second place.
