FAQs

  • What is Destination District Redesign?

El Paso ISD introduces Destination District Redesign (DDR), a framework that increases the percentage of high-quality seats. This redesign has established a set of standards to guarantee that every seat in every school is of the highest quality. We call this our high-quality seat framework. It is defined as an environment that inspires and supports 21st-century learning and is designed to ensure every child receives a high-quality education, attracts top teachers, and optimizes academic spaces. By fostering a culture of academic excellence and intentional equity design, the district increases the number of high-quality seats while positively impacting its financial stability.

As education evolves, how is El Paso ISD adapting?

As the longstanding leader in education in the region for more than 140 years, El Paso ISD continues its trailblazing journey in public education, adapting to the evolving landscape. Despite challenges such as reduced state funding, declining birth rates, and increased student choice, the district is determined to undertake a redesign process to enhance the availability of high-quality educational opportunities.

El Paso ISD remains dedicated to evaluating programs and facilities to inspire and empower learners to thrive. Aligned with our Destination District Redesign (DDR), district administration has crafted fair and informed decision-making criteria, based on a theory of action focused on whole child development, delivery of academic excellence, fostering a culture of accountability, and intentional equity design that makes El Paso ISD a destination district. Through these criteria, DDR seeks to expand high-quality educational opportunities for all families and ensure equitable resource distribution among schools.

This comes as El Paso ISD stands out as one of the few districts throughout the state in a healthy financial position, having passed a balanced budget in 2023-2024. This is part of several proactive steps El Paso ISD is taking to increase the number of high-quality seats.

How is the El Paso ISD community involved in this initiative?

To involve the El Paso ISD community stakeholders, the administration will present a quality seat framework through meetings, organized based on feeder patterns and geographic areas of our 10 comprehensive high schools. These sessions will feature the criteria for high-quality seats, a preliminary analysis, and stakeholder input gathering. The administration, guided by El Paso ISD Core Beliefs, commits to responsible stewardship of taxpayer funds, promoting fiscal responsibility, and ensuring long-term solvency.

What does a Quality Seat mean for El Paso ISD?
