The EPISD Police Communications Section consists of 7 full-time Telecommunicators certified by The Texas Commission on Law Enforcement. The communication section operates 24-hours a day, 365 days a year. EPISD Communications dispatches officers on calls for assistance and monitors fire intruder alarms that are installed at each District facility.
The Police Communications Section utilizes (CAD) Computer Automated Dispatch system which allows dispatchers to track units in the field and make calls for service. EPISD Police vehicles are equipped with ( MDT) Mobile Data Terminals which allow officers to write reports, send e-mail, view school floor plans and access the County wide (RMS) Records Management System all from their vehicles. This equipment was acquired through grants from the U.S. Department of Justice. EPISD Police can check wanted persons, suspicious vehicles, sex offenders and research stolen District property. All this can be done while the officer is on the field or on their campus. This is in an effort to protect our students and staff from the criminal element. Additionally, each officer is issued an 800 megahertz hand held radio that is capable of communicating with other first responders in the city and county.
