  • El Paso ISD Board approves new school attendance zones for enhanced educational equity 

    The El Paso Independent School District Board of Trustees unanimously voted to approve the administration's recommendations to adjust the attendance boundaries of 12 campuses throughout the district. 

    This decision follows a thorough review conducted by the School Attendance Zone (SAZ) committee, comprised of community members representing campuses within the district’s four Zones of Excellence — West, South Central, East Central and Northeast. The committee meticulously examined existing attendance zones, enrollment data, and the district’s demographic study to ensure informed decision-making.  

    Throughout January, February and March, the district actively engaged with its stakeholders, holding 21 community meetings in-person and 20 virtually. These gatherings provided parents, faculty, staff, and community members with a platform to offer invaluable feedback on the preliminary recommendations put forth by the committee. The input received during these sessions played a pivotal role in shaping the final report presented to the Board of Trustees. 

    The approved adjustments aim to maintain the integrity of our feeder patterns, reduce split campuses, and optimize resources to better serve families. These changes will be implemented at the start of the 2024-2025 school year, with registration for all district programs opening on April 1.  

    El Paso ISD remains committed to being an open enrollment district that provides high-quality education and offers families the flexibility to choose their designated neighborhood school or another school within the district.
